Profile: JJ Oosthuysen (Lead Consultant)

 

  • In October 2010 JJ chaired the International Microfinance Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was also invited to deliver two papers during the conference related to lending methodology and delinquency in microfinance.

 

  • During a United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) conference in Addis Ababa (May 2011) he delivered a paper “Enhancing Microfinance for Africa’s Development”.

 

  • Over the years JJ has been a guest on a number of nationwide radio shows to talk about SME’s in general and funding of SME’s specifically where he gave direction to entrepreneurs and responded to live questions from listeners.

 

  • JJ has a unique and effective approach to addressing client needs through his ability to consult in English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa. He is able to converse in isiZulu, isiNdeble and siSwati.

 

  • His senior management experience includes being Managing Director of a Cape Town based financial services company (microfinance) and being Director for Service Delivery Channels in a Public Sector entity.

 

  • JJ owned several other successful franchise business as family investments. His business acumen coupled with a fine sense to seize opportunities has earned him a prestigious business award in the mid nineties.

 

  • JJ was invited by the Deputy President of South Africa in 2006 to accompany her on a trip to India to explore business models for SME development and other second economy interventions .

 

  • His international business travels include the exploration of microfinance models for SME development and other business models related to public sector service delivery. These travels have taken him amongst others to Kenya, Bosnia & Herzegovina, India, Ethiopia and Australia.

  • JJ  Oosthuysen completed his graduate studies at the University of the Orange Free State in 1984. His professional working career spans over 24 years with a demonstrated success in both line management  in private and public sector entities and as a management consultant.
